Activity Report for the Period
December 9, 2010 - April 14, 2011
Summary During this period there were 5 Construction Trips and 3 Reef Monitoring Trips. On March 3, 2011 there were 754 tons of concrete Catch Basins and Man Holes deployed in FH-13. On March 11, Culverts were deployed in FH-13 and a 40' Oyster Boat was deployed in FH-14 by Mitchell Marine. On March 15, Culverts were deployed in FH-13. On March 18, Culverts were deployed in FH-2. On March 25, Culverts were deployed on the Casino Magic Barge in FH-1. On March 19, Dives were made on the Gerald Corcoran (Linda Susan) and the Great Wicomico Pogey Boat in FH-13. Dives were attempted on March 22 to the Casino Magic Barge in FH-1 and on April 2 to FH-13, but both were greeted with very poor visibility which rendered efforts fruitless.

Position: 29°59.527'N / 88°30.610'W
This 145' River Tug Boat is sitting upright in about 86' of water within FH-13. Visibility was decent with about 30-40 feet above the wheelhouse, but dropping to under 5 below it. The reef is doing well with an abundant population of Sheepshead and Spades, but only a handful of Gamefish sightings. Urchins, Arrow Crabs, and Damsels were observed, but no Angels or Butterflies were seen. Fish Observations included Red Snapper (1-12lbs./6-10), Gag Grouper (1-10lbs./3-4), Scamp (1-3lbs./3-5), Mangrove Snapper (1-6lbs./6-10), Trigger Fish (4-6), Sheepshead (1-6lbs./50-75), and Spadefish (175-200).

Position: 29°59.794'N / 88°29.892'W 86' Depth
This 175' Pogey Boat was donated by Omega Protein and deployed in FH-13 on November 24, 2009. Visibility was around 25 feet on the roof, but dropped quickly to less than 2 feet below that. Measurements indicated 63' of depth at the top of the light on the roof and 74' at the Bow Pulpit. Fish Observations included Red Snapper (1-10lbs./50-75), Spadefish (175-200), Mangrove Snapper (1-6lbs./6-10), Sheepshead (1-6lbs./50-75), Tomtates (75-100), Grouper (1-4lbs./6-8), Scamp (1-3lbs./2), and Triggerfish (6-8). Several of the larger Game Sized Red Snapper were observed in the upper mid-water. There were many more baitfish like Tomtates on this reef compared to the Gerald Cororan.
