050520 Kay A Eckstein, 431F13
Position: 29°59.552'N / 88°29.700'W 88' Depth
This large 150 foot Mississippi River Tugboat was sunk on May 20, 2005 in the southeast corner of FH-13 in about 88 feet of water. Hurricane Katrina scoured the Vessel into the bottom yielding a max depth now of 102 feet. The minimum depth reading on this visit was 80 feet. Fish sightings were limited due to the poor visibility but several small mangrove snapper and groupers were sighted as well as sand bass and sea whip corals. A shrimp net was noted entangled as well. Several larger Red Snapper (25-30/10-20lbs) were observed in the upper mid-water.
